Kalenjin Culture App

Kalenjin Culture is a free educational Android application that celebrates and preserves the heritage of the Kalenjin people of Kenya. The app covers:

• Sub-tribes — history, location and background of all 8 Kalenjin sub-tribes
• Clans — lineage, clan animals and totems
• Traditional Names — boys' and girls' names with meanings, organised by sub-tribe
• Traditional Foods — recipes, ingredients and cultural significance
• Culture — birth, initiation, marriage and ceremonial customs
• Animals — clan symbols and their Kalenjin names
• Games & Quizzes — interactive clan game, animal game, and name quizzes

All cultural content is stored locally inside the app and is available without an internet connection.

This app is designed for all ages and is suitable for the whole family — children, students, adults and elders alike. It contains no violent, adult, or otherwise inappropriate content.

We do not directly collect, store, or process any personal information from users of this app. Specifically:

• No account registration or login is required
• No names, email addresses, or contact details are collected
• No location data is accessed or stored
• No user-generated content is uploaded or retained
• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs are embedded by us

This app displays banner and interstitial advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may automatically collect certain device and usage data to serve ads, including:

• Advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
• IP address (used to estimate general location for ad relevance)
• App interaction events (ad impressions and clicks)
• Device model and operating system version

The app integrates the following third-party services:

• Google AdMob — advertisement delivery. Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party services.

Because this app is suitable for users of all ages, including children under 13, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations including the EU's GDPR provisions for minors.

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children
• All advertising is configured as child-directed (non-personalised, G-rated)
• No behavioural tracking is performed on any user
• No in-app purchases are available

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through this app, please contact us immediately using the details below and we will take steps to remove it.

The app requests the following Android permissions:

• INTERNET — required to load advertisements from AdMob
• ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — allows AdMob to check connectivity before requesting ads, preventing unnecessary network calls

No other network permissions are used. All Kalenjin cultural content (clans, names, foods, culture, games) is bundled locally within the app and functions fully offline.

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no user data retained on our servers. Any data collected by Google AdMob is retained and managed by Google according to their own data-retention policies.

The app does not store any user preferences, game scores, or quiz results outside of the device's local memory (RAM), which is cleared when the app is closed.

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws including:

• The right to know what data is collected about you
• The right to request deletion of your personal data
• The right to opt out of personalised advertising (via device settings)
• The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EU residents)

To opt out of personalised ads on Android, go to: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation. Note that since we already configure all ads as non-personalised, this setting has limited additional effect within our app.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, applicable laws, or our practices. When we do:

• The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised
• The in-app Privacy Policy screen will be updated to match
• For significant changes, we may notify users via a Play Store update note

Continued use of the app after changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated privacy policy.
